Leeds United
Leeds United have really picked up some form of late and that bodes well for Neil Warnock and his side as they have begun to move up the Championship table. It has already been far too long since they were a Premier League side and there is a belief they can change that this season.
The side are now 9th in the Championship and their 14 points means they are only 5 off the leaders as they get set to go into the international break. They have a 2-1-1 record at Elland Road this season, scoring 8 goals and conceding 7.
The Tykes had won 3 in a row in all competitions before a 2-2 draw at Bolton Wanderers during the week. That means Leeds have scored at least 2 goals in 8 of their last 9 games in all competitions and they have won back to back games at home since a 2-3 loss to Hull City.
David Norris and Aidy White are both back in the squad, but Ross McCormack and Paul Green are missing.
Barnsley
Keith Hill is the latest manager to be linked with the vacant Blackburn Rovers job and that is a testament to the job he has done at Barnsley and previously Rochdale. Hill's side have played really well this season and are defying expectations of being involved in a relegation dogfight in the early goings.
However, they were beaten 0-2 at home by Peterborough United during the week and that result dropped Barnsley to 17th in the Championship with 11 points earned so far. They are 1-0-3 away from home this season, scoring 8 goals and conceding 10 in those games.
Barnsley have won just 1 of their last 5 games in all competitions, although that was an impressive 0-5 win at Birmingham City. That result came in their last away game after previously losing 4 in a row away from home in all competitions. During that time, Barnsley had conceded at least 2 goals in each of their 5 away games this season until the clean sheet was earned at Birmingham.
Stephen Foster, Toni Silva, Jim McNulty and Mido are all missing for Keith Hill.
Head to Head
Since Leeds United were relegated from the Premier League, they have met their Yorkshire rivals on 6 occasions in League games and failed to win any of those.
Barnsley have won 4 of those games, although the 1-2 win here at Elland Road was their first at the ground after the previous 2 games had been high-scoring draws.
Leeds had been unbeaten in 5 home games against Barnsley before the loss last season.
Prediction
This is another game where I feel there will be goals on current form and I do think Leeds United will be too strong and finally record a win over their Yorkshire rivals.
Ladbrokes are offering 2.63 that Leeds win with at least 3 goals scored and the goals will need to be satisfied if Leeds are to win because Barnsley have scored in every away game they have played this season.
