Italian Serie A
2012-11-03 - AC Milan vs Chievo
A Sports Betting Pick by ROzsolt
Football : Italy : Serie A
Venue: "Sansiro", Milano
Saturday 3rd November – Kickoff time: 18:00 GMT+1
AC Milan (12th W3 D2 L5)
Milan salvaged a point after going 2-0 down in Sicily against Palermo in the midweek, and they remain in the second half of the table in Serie A after 10 rounds.
The Rossoneri’s inconsistency continued against Palermo, Milan has actually failed to register consecutive victories this season. Ricardo Montolivo and the in-form Stephan El Shaarawy turned the tables in the final 22 minutes to earn Milan a point.
Milan will now return to Sansiro, where they’ve suffered three defeats this season with the same score (0-1), including the one against rivals Inter Milan.
Massimiliano Allegri who is feeling the heat more and more won’t be able to count on the services of injured Robinho, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Luca Antonini and Daniele Bonera who is suspended.
Chievo (13th W3 D1 L6)
Chievo made a big jump on the table after beating struggling Pescara at home on Wednesday to record their third victory of the season, all at home.
Both teams struggled to control the ball on the sodden pitch after some heavy rain in Verona, but the home side made their extra man count scoring two goals in the second half, following a 32th minute red card shown to Pescara’s Romagnoli.
Chievo will now travel to Milano to face the Rossoneri in an attempt to avoid another defeat there, they’ve lost all of their last six matches played at Sansiro against them.
I can’t imagine them being too confident ahead of this game, the Gialloblu have only picked up one point from four away games this season, failing to score in three of them.
Chievo will be also missing the likes of Squizzi, Paloschi, Sardo and Cesar for this match.
The Betting Verdict
Milan have lost five of their ten games played in Serie A this season, which makes it their worst start to a campaign for 31 years.
The only positive thing about Milan’s season is Stephan El Shaarawy’s excellent form, the striker has netted eight goals in 13 official games this term and his League average in 2012-13 is of a goal every 114 minutes.
According to gazzetta.it Pato and Bojan Krkic will partner him in front, but these two are far from their best form, they are both yet to break their duck in Seria A this season.
Luckily for Milan they’ll be up against a side that is poor on their travels, I can’t imagine Chievo making too much damage at Sansiro with 33 year old Pellissier and 36 year old Luciano playing in front.
I expect Milan to dominate the game, but they may struggle to break Chievo’s stubborn defense. Howevr, I can’t see the Eugenio Corini’s side hanging on for the entire 90 minutes.
