Sunderland
Sunderland lost convincingly to Chelsea at the weekend 1-3. The defeat means the Mackems are in the drop zone in 18th place with 13 points and trail safety by 2 points.
O'Neil's side have looked very flat in recent weeks losing 3 of the last 4 league games and the last 2. The last league win was 4 games ago at Fulham (1-3) thanks for a red for the host. Ignoring this win their last and only other was against Wigan back in September.
At home it's 4 games without a win as Villa (0-1), WBA (2-4) and Chelsea have won here. The only positive is a draw with QPR (0-0) and the pressure is really on to win this one.
Sunderland have failed to score in 2 of last 4 at home and have scored 2 or more just once in 7 here. Ironically, when they did score 2 they still lost the game as defensively the side has just 1 clean sheet in 5.
Reading
Reading were a little unlucky to lose at Southampton (1-0) at the weekend. The loss means they sit 1 place below Sunderland in 19th place on 9 points and they need a win as much as hosts if not more.
McDermott's side have lost the last 4 league games despite playing some good football and dominating large spells of the these games. Unfortunately it's a result business and no points are given for decent play or effort.
Away from home the form isn't much better 3 straight losses at Wigan (3-2), Villa (1-0) and Southampton. All 3 were by 1 goal and 2 by a 1-0 scoreline.
The side has goals in them at home but on the road they struggle to find the net. Half of their away games have ended in shut outs but thankfully against Sunderland 1 may even be enough as they struggle for goals.
Betting Verdict
Sunderland are even money favourites and I have zero interest in that. It's interesting because Reading look a good side attacking wise and ask questions. The defence is is suspect but they "deserve" at least 6 more points than they have. The hosts look awful, the manager is flat and this team is definitely a relegation candidate in my eyes.
In the last 8 Premiership home games Sunderland has scored 2 just once. The Royals have scored 2 once in 5 away games and currently are back to back games without a goal.
4 of the last 5 Reading away games have ended unders and 6 of the last 8 Sunderland games have gone under. So to see the unders at a healthy 1.92 with Pinnaclesports I see a lot of value there and this is the best bet for this tight game at the foot of the table.
Good Luck
