Match Preview :
Scotland has appointed Gordon Strachan as their new coach and he will take charge as Estonia visit Pittodrie for this International Friendly on Wednesday night. Former Celtic manager Strachan was handed the hot seat last month following the dismissal of Craig Levein in November, and has spoken of his dream in taking charge of the Scotland national team.
Strachan has a tough task to push the team forward however but he will be looking to get off with a win in midweek, ahead of two World Cup qualifiers next month against Wales and Serbia. As it is now, Scotland are currently bottom of Group B after collecting just two points from their opening four games, a run of form which cost Levein to be dismissed. Therefore, tonight's clash with Estonia represents a chance for everyone in the squad to impress Strachan and show that they deserve a place in the side.
Team News :
Scotland Team News :
Celtic midfielder Scott Brown will captain Scotland in Aberdeen, with Darren Fletcher still absent, Gary Caldwell returning to Wigan due to injury and Kenny Miller unlikely to start. Birmingham's Chris Burke is expected to start alongside Brown in midfield, having not been capped since 2006.
Meanwhile, Strachan must choose between Christophe Berra, Andy Webster and Charlie Mulgrew at centre-back considering that Caldwell is out of the side and fellow defender Grant Hanley having left the camp due to injury. The duo of James Forrest and Ross McCormack have also withdrawn from the squad due to illness.
Estonia Team News :
Motherwell striker Henrik Ojamaa is expected to lead their attack. Tarmo Ruutli's side have made a disappointing start to their World Cup qualification campaign as they have lost three out of their four matches in Group D.
