2013-02-21 - Chelsea vs AC Sparta Praha

A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser

Match Preview :

Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benitez will rest the likes of Frank Lampard and Branislav Ivanovic when they take on Sparta Prague tongiht at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have a 1-0 lead from last week's first leg of the last 32 tie and will be expecting to progress even without the services of the two players.

This is because Rafa Benitez intends to give other players a chance with the clash against Manchester City in mind to come. On the other hand, striker Demba Ba is another who will play any part in tonight's match having been cup-tied in the competition playing for Newcastle, while midfielder Oriol Romeu remains out with a long-standing knee injury.

Meanwhile, for Sparta, 35-year-old Jiri Jarosik is denied a return to his former club through injury and fellow midfielder Josef Husbauer also will play no part through illness. That means that manager Vitezslav Lavicka may switch to a 4-4-2 formation, with Leony Kweuke and David Lafata sgtarting in attack.

For the record, the only other previous meeting between the two clubs at Stamford Bridge finished 0-0 in 2003 in the UEFA Champions League group phase, with Chelsea having earlier won 1-0 in Prague.
