Celtic wlll have been boosted by the 4 goals they scored on Sunday and the fact that new signings Robbie Keane and Diomansay Kamara scored aswell as Morten Rasmussen who bagged his third goal in 2 games. Tony Mowbary will also be very relieved, not only for the result which sends them into the Scottish Cup Quarter Finals but that 3 of his new signings found the back of the net.
Its been a tough couple of weeks for Mowbary and Celtic as they look to rebuild the side. Defeats at home to Hibs and away to Kilmarnock have left them 10 points behind Rangers and also see second spot under threat from Hibs who are two points behind with a game in hand. However Mowbary must be given time to rebuild as January saw the departure of many of Celtic's key players from the last few seasons aswell as a host of new signings which may take time to gel.
Hearts have given Celtic a few headaches this season and beaten them twice, once in the SPL and also 1-0 at Celtic Park in the CIS Cup. Celtic did beat them 2-1 back in September but it took an injury time goal to do it. However the signs were better for Celtic on Sunday and Hearts are definitely a club low on confience at the moment.
Hearts have lost their last 3 games without scoring a goal including last weeks CIS Cup semi final against St Mirren in a game in which Hearts rarely ever threatened the St Mirren goalkeeper. The previous 2 games saw similar performances in defeats to St Johnstone and Aberdeen which resulted in the sacking of Csaba Lazslo and the the return of old favourite Jim Jeffries to take over as manager.
Hearts started the season as favourites for third place behind the old firm but they now face a struggle to stay in the top 6 before the split with Aberdeen and St Johnstone close behind them. They did go 6 unbeaten before the last 3 games which ended in defeat but have also struggled to score goals for much of the season and may be in for a difficult game at Celtic Park. Jim Jeffries will be without the injured Ruben Palazeulos for up to 6 weeks while Ismael Bouzid will be out for a month.
