Football: Scottish Premier League
Sunday 7th March Kick Off 1.15pm
Falkirk (12th) Home Record W2 D4 L6
Celtic (2nd) Away Record W7 D2 L5
Celtic lost 1-0 at Old Firm rivals Rangers last week and sit 10 points behind them with a game less played and are all but of the league title race. They also face a fight to secure second as Dundee United are only 6 points behind and Hibs only 7 points behind them. There was no shortage of controversy as ever with Scott Brown unfortunate to be sent off and Celtic have loss their appeal to get the red card overturned and Scott Brown will miss this game and 2 after it in his 3 match ban.
Robbie Keane played for Ireland during the week after his initial knee injury wasnt as bad as first feared and should feature. Keane is one of many new faces at the club and Keane himself has stated that its a period of transition for the club, however some Celtic fans are already losing patience despite understanding that it may take time for some of the new players to gel. Mowbary is under pressure and a win at Falkirk on Sunday is a must.
Falkirk have only beaten one side since mid December and that's Aberdeen who they have beaten twice in the SPL this year. However they have suffered some bad defeats and sit bottom of the SPL.
Falkirk started the season terribly and found it hard to find the net but things started to turn better after a 3-3 draw in this fixture with Celtic back in November which they followed up with a 2-0 win over Hamilton.
However they will need a lot more conssistency if they want to stay in the SPL next season. Eddie May has departed and being replaced by Steven Pressley. Pressley is promising to mix it up more as the side were known for playing nice football but Pressley will rough it up a bit more as the vital part of the season comes when the top and bottom 6 split and Falkirk will be emroilled in a relegation battle. They face a Celtic side who are also badly in need of a win for different reasons, Falkirk have drawn twice with them this season but will need to be at their best to get something on Sunday.
