BRAZIL
Brazil ranked no.6 in the FIFA rankings, made heavy work of qualifying for World Cup 2026 in the CONMEBOL section despite an increase in automatic qualification places of six spots, as Selecao eventually achieved a 5th place finish in the South American table which included slipping to six defeats in the process - the most defeats suffered by any of the automatically qualifying nations in the section.
This therefore continues to raise questions over whether Brazil can launch a serious challenge to lift this edition’s World Cup trophy but in experienced manager, Carlo Ancelotti, Selecao have given themselves a decent chance of at least going deeper in the tournament.
Throw in the likes of the familiar faces from the Premier league such as Cunha, Pedro, Estevao and Martinelli along with Raphinha and Vinicius Jr, and you have a seriously potent looking strikeforce - but can they put it together all at the same time?
Favoured formation : 4-2-4
Top Team Goalscorer : Raphinha @ 4.00
Value TTG Pick : Igor Thiago @ 6.50
MOROCCO
African heavyweights, Morocco, are 8th in the FIFA rankings and unlike South American counterparts, Brazil, The Atlas Lions fairly breezed through qualifying as they registered a 100% winning record, winning all eight of their games in Group E and finishing no fewer than nine points ahead of 2nd placed Niger in the CAF Section.
Morocco have also become something of the set-piece experts in recent times under national coach Mohamed Ouahbi and this may come in handy against teams deploying the low block and parking the bus.
Heavily favoured to join Brazil in the knockout rounds of this competition.
Favoured formation: 4-3-3
Top Team Goalscorer : Ayoub El Kaabi @ 3.75
Value TTG Pick: Achraf Hakimi @ 13.00
SCOTLAND
Scotland will join the likes of Brazil and Morocco in attempting to take full advantage of World Cup minnows, Haiti, in this Group C but although all three nations are all likely to pick up the three points against the CONCACAF qualifiers, it looks likely that the Scots’ potential advancement will be measured in their performances against Brazil and Morocco.
Scotland recorded four wins in their six group games which included a dramatic and breathtaking 4-2 comeback win against Denmark in a winner-take-all final game of the group phase which secured automatic qualification for World Cup 2026.
However, ranked 43rd in the FIFA rankings suggest Steve Clarke’s side may have to take the scenic route and claim one of the best eight 3rd place finishers if they are to feature in the knockout rounds.
Favoured formation: 4-2-3-1
Top Team Goalscorer : Scott McTominay @ 3.75
Value TTG Pick : Lawrence Shankland @ 7.50
HAITI
Haiti last appeared in the World Cup finals all the way back in 1974 where they failed to progress from the group stage of a vastly decreased field of nations compared to this upcoming 48-team edition.
The rank outsiders of this Group C nevertheless successfully navigated their way through two rounds of qualification, firstly finishing runners-up behind Curacao in Group C 2nd Round before finishing top of Group C 3rd Round table, fending off challenges from Honduras and Costa Rica respectively.
However, being the second-lowest FIFA Ranked nation in 82nd place, Sebastein Migne’s side look set to finish bottom of the group.
Favoured formation: 4-2-3-1
Top Team Goalscorer : Duckens Nazon @ 6.00
Value TTG Pick: Wilson Isidor @ 8.00
Summary
Brazil and Morocco look the most likely pair to progress out of the group stage and into the knockout rounds but do not completely disregard Scotland as Steve Clarke’s side have proved they are tough to beat and never give up.
