2010-01-30 - Fulham vs Aston Villa
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Fulham goes into this match looking to keep their good home record against Aston Villa in this clash. Roy Hodgson's side boast an impressive unbeaten run of 11 games in all competitions on home soil - they have not lost at Craven Cottage since a slim 1-0 defeat against Arsenal back in September.
The Cottagers have since gone on to record impressive wins over Liverpool and title chasers Manchester United. Now they will be looking to take the scalp of Aston Villa. They are now 10th in the standings and some 11 points away from a European spot however.
No matter what, Hodgson's side will be in confident mood back in front of the Craven Cottage faithful ahead of the visit of Villa. They will be keen to rebound after losing to Tottenham at White Hart Lane in midweek. That was their fourth League defeat in a row - their worst run since March 2006.
Fulham have only kept three clean sheets in their last 10 games.
Aston Villa may have been held to a goalless draw against Arsenal on Wednesday but before that they scored nine goals in two matches, winning both of them. In the Carling Cup they scored six goals past Blackburn, also scored three against Brighton in the FA Cup and are through to the next stage. They will now face Manchester United on the 28th February for the Carling Cup.
However, tt's worth to bear in mind that the visitors haven't scored in their last four Premier League fixtures as all of their goals of late have been in cup tournaments. But they are unbeaten in six games in all competitions and will want to keep their impressive away record intact as well. O'Neill's side have not lost on the road since defeat to West Ham on 4th November - their only loss in a run of 10 games away from home.
As for the team news, Bobby Zamora made his comeback from a broken collarbone against Spurs in midweek and will once again start this match. Striker Andrew Johnson remains sidelined for Fulham, along with defender Paul Konchesky and midfielder Clint Dempsey.
Chris Smalling should continue in defence having agreed to join Manchester United at the end of this season.
Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker faces at least three months out after he suffered a stress fracture to his ankle. They are also missing Stephen Warnock with a shin problem. Left-back Wilfred Bouma is back in full training following an injury setback and could face a late fitness test prior to kickoff but at best will be on the bench.
Take Fulham to win here.
Cheers and good luck,
