Kenny Dalglish and Roberto Mancini will once again go head to head as Liverpool welcomes Manchester City for the 2nd Leg of the Carling Cup after the first leg at the Etihad Stadium was won by Liverpool 1-0 and the Red will be hoping that it will give them the advantage in their bid to end a six-year trophy drought at Anfield.

Nevertheless Roberto Mancini's City side will be confident of turning the tables and make a return to Wembley, having won last season's FA Cup before losing in the Community Shield at the beginning of this campaign to Manchester United. Manchester City are expected to come back with guns blazing at Anfield and, after dominating the first leg without scoring, they would want to be the side to enter the final to meet Cardiff at Wembley.

For the record, Liverpool and City drew 1-1 at Anfield earlier in the season in the Premier League, but City won in January at the Etihad. Kenny Dalglish knows that the Carling Cup represents the chance of a first trip to Wembley since 1996.

Dalglish is certain to make changes to his team after the defeat to Bolton and he were not happy with the performances of several players. Defensive midfielder Jay Spearing could return to the squad having missed the last two matches with a hamstring injury. Winger Stewart Downing could get a recall after only being a substitute last weekend while Dalglish will decide if he will field Craig Bellamy twice in four days.

Manchester City will be without striker Mario Balotelli having accepted a four-match ban for violent conduct which was charged by the FA after his act went un-noticed by the match referee. Meanwhile, Captain and defender Vincent Kompany is already unaavailable as he completes a four-match suspension for his sending-off in the FA Cup loss to Manchester United.

Midfielder Yaya Toure and defender Kolo Toure are playing with their respective countries for the AFrican Nations Cup but other then that Mancini has no new fresh injuries to worry about.
