The centre-back was the subject of a failed bid from Newcastle at the start of this week, with the Magpies' offer rejected immediately as it was below what the club deemed to be the Championship club's valuation of the defender.
Ten-goal striker Marvin Sordell, who has also been linked with a January move, will lead the line for Watford who are at full strength going into this tie.
Meanwhile, influential midfielder Jonathan Hogg returned from a minor knee injury and played in the 3-0 defeat against Birmingham which means that just long-term absentees Martin Taylor (broken toe) and Stephen McGinn (knee) are out of the side.

The likes of Gareth Bale (thigh), Scott Parker (hamstring) and Younes Kaboul (groin) are the injury concerns for Tottenham. All three came off during training on Wednesday and are not likely to be risked here.
Ledley King (knee) is also expected to sit out to allow him time to recuperate. The other absentees are Sandro, William Gallas (both calf) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle).
Prediction :
Tottenham have won four and drawn two of their last six league and cup matches against the Hornets and I see nothing here that is likely to change that dominance.
