Spanish playmaker Mikel Arteta could give Wenger a boost by returning for this clash after missing the defeat to Manchester United with a groin injury.

On-loan Thierry Henry will undergo a late fitness test on his calf problem before a decision is made on him. Robin van Persie will start in attack for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could keep his place in Arsenal's starting lineup after an impressive performance against United before being substituted late on for out-of-form Andrey Arshavin.

However, left-back Andre Santos (ligament damage) remains on the sidelines while right-back Carl Jenkinson is out with a back problem. . Kieran Gibbs (groin) and Bacary Sagna(ankle) are out of this clash.

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has recovered from sickness in time and has travelled with the side to North London. Agbonlahor had to be substituted at half-time because of the bug during last weekend's win at Wolves.

Fellow striker Emile Heskey (Achilles) and midfielder Stephen Ireland (hamstring) are also available for selection after their injuries.

However, winger Charles N'Zogbia's is out with a knee problem and joins defender Carlos Cuellar (calf) and midfielder Chris Herd (ankle) on the treatment table.
