PREVIEW
Ipswich are the 2nd worst team in the Championship, after 7 games, with only Peterborough propping them up. The Tractor Boys have just 1 win this term, and none in their last 5.
Barnsley are off a cracking win in their last match, beating 5-0 away to rebound from that 2-1 loss at Blackburn Rovers. The 13th ranked Tykes will rely on Craig Davis to have a big game here, as he has now scored 7 goals for his club, including 4 in that last match. As an anytime scorer, he makes a lot of sense because Ipswich have given up 15 goals already and if they concede a few here Davis is bound to be one of the men that gets them.
I feel the odds on Barnsley are a bit disrespectful. They're home and off a big win and perhaps the price is affected by the fact Barnsley have just 1 win in their last 5 meetings against Ipswich. Also, 2 of the last 4 meetings here have resulted in Ipswich leaving with 3 points. Couple that with the desperation Ipswich have for the win, and you get a probability they might get something out of this game.
The 5-0 win also brings about the possibility of a let down, which can happen at much higher levels, so why not here. I do still think there is a great deal of value in taking the home team at 2.50 because they are, in my opinion, the likely winners.
There are key absentees up front for Ipswich, which is what I will base my decision on here. Michael Chopra is not going to be fit to play, while Paul Taylor is also out. That means the team that has scored just 5 goals in 7 league games just got worse up front.
BETTING VERDICT
Too much value to ignore. I'll take Barnsley to edge this one at home.
