The home and visitors sit 4th and 5th respectively in the La Liga table, separated by just 2 points, so this is a key game in the fight for a Champions League spot. Real Sociedad have a few things in their favour though - current form, recent h2h and of course, home advantage.

Real Sociedad have actually beaten Valencia in the last 3 meetings, and come into this without a defeat in 14 games! That surge and momentum, I believe, will keep them unbeaten here, although it makes sense to look at the home win in this one, give Valencia's troubles away from home.

Valencia have not won any of their last 4 away games, although 3 of those were draws. The last of those was a 3-3 result at Espanyol. Valencia are coming on to 3 months without an away win, so I'm not going to even consider that here against a currently superior side.

Sociedad have to be backed in some way, but like yesterday I've got a few alarm bells in my head about the visitors. I wanted to back Atletico Madrid against Real Madrid but did not go for the win because I thought Real would fight back and possible get something. So, we had a winner with Atletico to score first and then Real did in fact end up scoring 2 and winning. Same thing here.

Valencia will no doubt fight, and I expect them to score, so maybe we should look at Real Sociedad's goals market. If Valencia do fight well, Sociedad will need at least 2 goals to win this. And who knows, maybe that won't be enough either, but I think it's the minimum required tonight to win.

I'm surprised to see the high prices available on the home team to strike twice in this, not too far off the win, which could be scuppered if their defence doesn't do their bit.
