Sparta Rotterdam extended their unbeaten run in the Dutch Eredivisie to six games on the weekend when they recorded a convincing 3-0 win away from home at Cambuur and they now return to their Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel for this upcoming clash against Waalwijk, no doubt looking to pick up another three points.
These last six unbeaten games has helped maintain Sparta Rotterdam’s ambitions of a possible top seven finish and contention for a European spot next season, having collected four wins in the process.
Recent victories over Fortuna Sittard, Vitesse, Excelsior and the aforementioned Cambuur have lifted Sparta into 6th place in the Eredivisie standings where they hold a solid looking home record of 6-1-2 18/8 at their Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel ground.
Despite losing their opening two home games of this season (losing to AZ and Ajax), Sparta Rotterdam have since clicked into gear, winning six of their subsequent seven games on home soil, scoring 2 goals or more in five of these seven matches as well.
RKC Waalwijk dropped down to 12th place in the Dutch top flight standings following a 2-1 defeat away from home at Volendam last time out and the visitors hit the road again for this tough looking trip to Rotterdam on Tuesday night on the back of three games without a win.
A previous heavy 6-1 thrashing away at the hands of NEC Nijmegen has also contributed to Waalwijk’s slide down the Eredivisie table while the bigger picture shows that the visitors have now picked up just one win out of their last seven matches overall.
That rare success came in the form of an impressive 3-1 home win over AZ but aside from that win, there’s been very little to cheer about for the Waalwijk fans as their side have also succumbed to four defeats within this seven-game period as well.
Results away from home have also been a source of major concern for Joseph Oosting’s side as they’ve lost their last three away games on the trot, losing 3-0 at Twente, 6-1 at NEC and 2-1 at Volendam respectively.
The Betting Verdict
Sparta Rotterdam have lost just once in their previous 10 meetings with Waalwijk and the hosts look in good shape to extend their dominance over their visitors here on Tuesday night.
