PREVIEW
The 9-4-3 Philadelphia Flyers are in Carolina to face the Hurricanes, who are 6-8-3. Despite being the road team, they are correctly priced as favourites as they have dominated Carolina in previous meetings. The last match these two played, in Philly, ended in a 5-1 win for the Flyers.
If you look at recent results, you'll find that Philly have actually beaten Carolina in 15 of their last 18 meetings! Philadelphia come here in great form, going 4-0-2 and getting at least a point in each of those 6 games. Going on the road does not seem to be a problem for the Flyers either, as they are 5-1-1 when playing away from home.
The Flyers have really upped their game since losing to the Winnipeg Jets 18 days ago, where they lost 9-8. Both Ilya Bryzgalov and Sergei Bobrovsky are playing well and with the former having started yesterday, perhaps we see the latter tonight. Not sure yet but I feel confident of a good performance from both.
As for Carolina, they will go with Cam Ward tonight, who will replace Brian Boucher. Boucher played when his team lost 5-1 in that last meeting and I'm not sure Ward is an improvement. The stopper is 4-8-2 against the Flyers, which is hardly dominant.
BETTING VERDICT
Feel free to take the 1.89 on Philadelphia to win this one. It's a very good price. I'm going to be greedy and take them to win in regulation.
