A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Roy Keane’s Sunderland have a poor head to head record with Middlesbrough as they have only managed to win once in their last eight matches against today’s opponents Middlesbrough. And in five out of eight matches, Sunderland has also failed to score against Boro. Gareth Southgate side has managed to win their last three visits to the Stadium of Light in the Premier League so will be confident of getting a result here today.
As it stands now both teams are tied on 36 points and would want to win to ensure their Premiership survival. Both are four points above the relegation zone and are only separated by goal difference here.
Sunderland will have the slight edge here as they have managed 27 points out of 36 points at the Stadium of Light this season. But Sunderland was beaten 2-0 against Newcastle in a derby match and now faces another derby match against Middlesbrough.
Middlesbrough on the other hand need to pick themselves up too after losing to relegation threatened Bolton 1-0.
With regards to the team news, the home side will not have the services of defender Phil Bardsley as he prepared to undergo knee surgery. Fellow defender Jonny Evans who did not play in the defeat against Newcastle is also rated doubtful with a hamstring injury here.
As for Middlesbrough, goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer could return to the side after he sat out their last match with a back injury. Their back up goalkeeper in Ross Turnbull is doubtful with a back injury as well. Robert Huth's is doubtful with a foot injury while Gary O'Neil (knee) is out for the rest of the season and Mido (hernia) is also unlikely to see any action.
