Analysis:Roy Keane’s Sunderland welcomes the visit of Arsenal to the Stadium of light and Keane will be delighted knowing that he has already accomplished his mission before the last day of the season knowing that Sunderland will be playing in the Premiership next season. For Arsene Wenger, it is more towards planning for next season as well as giving the players who are leaving the side a last chance to feature for them.
Sunderland have decided to release the likes of Andy Cole, Ian Harte, Stephen Wright and Stanislav Varga and some other players who failed to live up to expectations this season could also be playing their last match for the Black Cats on Sunday.
Arsenal on the other hand failure to win any trophy this season will see an exodus of players. First to go will be Mathieu Flamini who has already agreed to join A.C Milan in the summer. Alexander Hleb also looks set to join Inter Milan once the season is over.
Sunderland have however gace two players in the form of striker Kenwyne Jones and goalkeeper Craig Gordon good backing that they could be wanted next season and they are expected to start this final match at the Stadium of Light.
Winger Ross Wallace who has been transfer listed could get his break here after he has recovered from a knee injury and this could be his first match since being out in January. Jonny Evans on loan from Manchester United could also play his final match before returning to Manchester and link up with the Red Devils.
The Black Cats will definitely miss the services of Phil Bardsley and Dickson Etuhu who are out with injuries.
Arsenal looks set to hand the likes of Kieran Gibbs and Mark Randall who are both only 18 year old’s while Flamini could also feature in what will be his last match in Arsenal colours here after recovering from his ankle injury.
Striker Robin van Persie is still doubtful, while Hleb is suspended and Tomas Rosicky (knee), Bacary Sagna (ankle), Abou Diaby (thigh) and Eduardo da Silva (broken leg) are all out with injuries.
