Australia, Japan and Korea Republic qualify for World Cup Finals in South Africa

Australia, Japan and Korea Republic qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, with two rounds to spare in the weak Asian Zone.

Japan sealed their ticket by edging Uzbekistan 1-0, with Shinji Okazaki acoring in the 9th minute. Uzbekistan pressed hard throughout, played some intriciate football and crated the majority of the chances but were unable to convert any.

A point was all that Australia needed to qualify and they duly earned
that courtesy of a goalless draw with Qatar in Doha.

South Korea then confirmed their presence at a seventh consecutive FIFA World Cup, with a comfortable away win over the United Arab Emirates.

Park Chu-Young put the visitors ahead after only five minutes, when he tapped in a Lee Chung-Youg pass from close range, and they doubled their lead 32 minutes later when United Arab Emirates keeper Majed Naser parried a shot into the path of Ki Sung-Yueng, who scored into an empty goal.
