FLORIDA MARLINS
The Marlins are sending right-handed Anibal Sanchez to the mound, and he has not been solid at all against the Mets. In 8 career starts against the New York side, he is 3-4 with a 4.23ERA and 1.59WHIP.
The Mets lost this game last night in a close one, having rallied to score 4 in the bottom of the 9th to tie. It's a home game and I think they will rally, and whether they win or not, I expect them to hit Sanchez around a bit.
NEW YORK METS
In the series against Pittsburgh, the Mets scored 12 runs in the first 2 games before having a weak performance in game 3. What it illustrates is that this team is capable of banging out runs, when the pitching is right. In the 1st game of this series, they proved that, putting up 6 runs. Now they face a pitcher that is easy for them to hit, and I think they will capitalise.
The Mets send left-hander Jon Niese to pitch, and unfortunately he will have to go up against a Florida side that is 2nd best in the NL in hitting southpaw pitchers. Thats better than teams like the Cardinals, Phillies and Cincinnati, to put it in perspective.
BETTING VERDICT
The total of 7.5 is low in my opinion. I reckon both teams will put up runs and so I'm taking the Over.
