PREVIEW
Bolton have steadied their sinking ship a bit recently with some good results and I feel this will carry on and serve them well this weekend against Wigan. In the reverse fixture, at the DW, Bolton came away with a 3-1 win. More of the same for me.
Bolton held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw just before they went and banged 7 past Blackburn, who have wins over Liverpool and Manchester United, and Arsenal! That is impressive and a similar display could see them keep Wigan from scoring again.
Bolton followed that draw up with an awful showing at Norwich, losing 2-0, and I feel a return home puts them in a position where they are under the glare of their own fans who they have to make up to for that loss to the Canaries.
Bolton have suffered a letdown after a good performance so now the loss should have them concentrating super hard. Wigan are, after all, a poor side who should get relegated and Bolton must in games like this to stay up themselves.
Wigan have an impressive result to show from their last game, drawing 1-1 against Bolton, but really they should have won and the draw shows how incapable they are of holding on to a lead. It also showed how incapable they are of keeping the opposition from scoring, and Bolton are due a few goals after being blanked by Arsenal and then Norwich.
It appears as if Bolton will have new ammunition to start here, as the word is Arsenal loan signing Ryo Miyaichi will play, along with Tim Ream. Manager Owen Coyle will make sure they play this one like a Cup final, because it is very likely his side could get nothing from the next two matches, at Chelsea and Manchester City. Against the side that has scored the least number of goals and conceded 2nd most in the Premier League, I fancy their chances at home.
BETTING VERDICT
Bolton lie 18th, in the relegation zone but they can jump out of it with a win against bottom club Wigan, who are 4 points behind.
QPR and Wolves are only a point ahead of Bolton, so the Wanderers have a great chance of getting themselves out of it and leaving one of those 2 in it.
At home, I say they go for it and get their rewards. With a huge price on offer, I'll go for the home win.
