Football: English Championship
Saturday 29 September 2012 - Kick Off 3pm
Bristol City
A lot of people were tipping Bristol City for another relegation scrap this season, but their start has the fans hoping that they won't have such a stressful year as they did last season. The side are playing attacking football and they are entertaining anyone who has got to watch them play recently.
They are 10th in the Championship as yet another team that has 10 points so far this season, but I believe they will be more focused on getting enough points to stay in the League rather than focusing on a potential Play Off push. Bristol City are 2-0-1 at Ashton Gate, scoring 11 goals and conceding 8 in those games.
Bristol City were thumped 3-5 at home in their last game here by Blackburn Rovers, but they have bounced back by securing 4 points in their last couple of games at Peterborough United and Watford. Before losing to Blackburn, the Robins had won 2 home games in the League by scoring 4 goals in each and they had won 4 of their last 5 going back to last season.
Leeds United
Neil Warnock was understandably delighted with his Leeds United side as they surprised Everton in the Capital One Cup with a 2-1 win at Elland Road. Warnock may also have been over the moon considering he was lambasted in the press for not having any tactics in the Premier League last season at Queens Park Rangers.
Now the focus will come back to the Championship as Leeds look to get back to the top flight where they feel they belong. They are currently 12th in the table but their 10 points leaves them just 6 off the pacesetters. Leeds are 1-0-2 away from home this season, scoring 4 goals and conceding 5 in those games.
The win over Everton means Leeds have won 2 in a row since a loss to Hull City. The side have won just 1 of their last 6 away games in the Championship, that coming against the inept Peterborough United team that has lost every game this season, and they have lost 4 of 6 on their travels.
Head to Head
Leeds United have enjoyed their last couple of visits to Bristol City as they have won 2 in a row at Ashton Gate including a 0-3 win here last season.
Bristol City have won just 1 of their last 5 home games against Leeds.
Prediction
I would be shocked if this game doesn't produce a few goals this weekend in the Championship, although the layers have cottoned on to that fact and aren't offering anything better than 1.80 on at least 3 goals being scored.
I don't really have a feel over which of these teams will win the game as Bristol City had been playing well here before the loss to Blackburn Rovers, while Leeds United should be full of confidence after a win over Everton and the fact they have lost just 1 of their last 5 visits to this ground.
Either way, I believe both sides are going to score at least once while both have been scoring goals, and conceding, to suggest we will get a winner in the game.
All 3 Leeds away games in the Championship have ended with a 2-1 scoreline either way, while Bristol City have scored at least 3 in each of their home games so far this season, while conceding at least 1 in each of those games.
7 of the last 8 games between these sides at Ashton Gate and Elland Road have also finished with at least 3 goals scored so I'll go for a 0-0 correct scoreline... Kidding, I'll back the 'obvious' over 2.5 goals option here.
