2012-12-08 - Wigan Athletic vs Queens Park Rangers
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Match Preview :
Since Harry Redknapp took over as manager of Queens Park Rangers the club have drawn their two games in charge against Sunderland and Aston Villa.
But can Redknapp inspire QPR to their first win this season or will they join the likes of (Burnley 1889-90, Bolton 1902-03 & Sheffield United 1990-91) failing to register a win in 16 top flight league games?
Scoring goals is the main problem for QPR, as they've not managed to score more than once in any of their last ewight league games.
Wigan's recent form as also been poor, with four losses in their last five league games, however, Wigan did manage a 3-2 win over Reading which Jordi Gomez scored a hat-trick.
Wigan are sitting in 16th place, just one point above the relegation zone, and have problems at both ends of the pitch right now.
Head to Head
These two clubs have only met a total of eight times. Last season Wigan won 2-0 thanks to Franco Di Santo's double. However that remains Wigan's only win over QPR and Roberto Martinez will be keen to arrest their poor run as they have lost four of their last five games going into this match.
Team News :
Wigan Team News :
Wigan will miss the services of four central defenders for the key Premier League clash with QPR. Antolin Alcaraz (groin) and Ivan Ramis (hamstring) are sidelined while captain Gary Caldwell and Maynor Figueroa are both suspended after the Football Association rejected Wigan's appeal against the latter's red card in Monday's 3-0 defeat by Newcastle.
The hosts also have problems as midfielder Ben Watson (broken leg), wingers Albert Crusat (knee) and Ryo Miyaichi (ankle) and playmaker Shaun Maloney (groin) all out of this clash.
Queens Park Rangers Team News :
Rob Green could continue in goal if Brazilian Julio Cesar fails to recover in time from a groin injury strain which caused him to miss the draw with Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, Stephane Mbia was stretchered off against Aston Villa due to a neck injury, but should be fit along with Samba Diakite. The likes of Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson are long-term absentees.
Predictions :
IF QPR are going to win a match in December - then this looks to be the best chance of success and I will go for Queens Park Rangers to win and get their first three points of their season!
