Petrolul Ploiesti will be receiving the visit of Vaslui on their last home match of the year and they’ll have the chance to swap places with their opponents which are only one point above them on the table on fourth.
The team from Ploiesti will be coming into this match on the back of a 2-0 away victory in Piatra Neamt against Ceahlaul, which was only their third win away from home of the season. It was a dull encounter, but the superior quality of Petrolul’s players was decisive.

Vaslui continued their impressive home form and got the better of Rapid Bucuresti last Sunday in what was their seventh home victory of the season.
Their objective is to finish the year on the podium and in case of a victory in Ploiesti they can already climb to the 3rd position after Pandurii were held to a draw by Gaz Metan on yesterday.
Vaslui will now try to improve their away form, their result on the road have been quite modest this season, despite picking up three points a month ago in Bucharest against Dinamo. They’ve suffered a defeat on their last trip in Liga 1 to Otelul Galati (2-0).
Coach Viorel Hizo declared that he is confident ahead of this match, but there are several players in his squad (transferred last summer) that have never played under these conditions, zero degrees and possibly snow.

Petrolul is a team that likes to have possession when playing at home, they usually have the initiative, but against Vaslui it should be more difficult to capitalize and create chances, their opponents are tight in midfield and have a solid defense.
Petrolul Ploiesti holds a decent 5-3-1 home record, but what’s more impressive is that they’ve only conceded three goals, two of those in their only home defeat against Steaua Bucuresti.
This should be a balanced game, either team can edge this and the one that’ll score first should not lose the match, I can’t see any of the two coming from behind to win this.
Petrolul’s last three home games ended with less than three goals scored, so did Vaslui’s last four games on the road, so there should be value in taking under 2.5 at +1.8.
