This is a great spot for Leeds to pull the upset over a team they absolutely despise. Chelsea have only just returned from the Club World Cup, where they were beaten by Corinthians. That took place on the weekend and there has been no time to rest since getting back from Japan. Plus, this game is an away game for the London Blues, at a venue as tough as most Premier League sides.

Leeds have indeed proved difficult for all that have played them in this tournament this year. Drawn each time to play at home, they dispatched of lower league sides (Shrewsbury and Oxford) before really turning on the quality and dumping out Everton and Southampton. Amazingly, only 1 goal was conceded in those 4 games, to Everton, who were defeated by a 2-1 score. Shrewsbury took a 4-0 hammering, while Southampton could do no better than Oxford and lost by the same 3-0 score.

Of course, with no more Champions League left to defend, this is Chelseas best chance at silverware, and they will not want to do an Arsenal. But Leeds are getting their first chance at Chelsea in over 8 years, and there is the Ken Bates link here too. Plus, there is history between Warnock and Benitez, and while there may be handshakes, I bet Warnock will have made it clear defeat is not an option against the hated visitors, despite their lofty status.

I have a feeling Chelsea are in for one hell of a fight, and that is enough to convince me Chelsea at odds on are a terrible bet. You could go on the exchanges and lay them, because Leeds could push them and take them to ET or even penalties. Other bets that stand out are McCormack to score anytime, or even Diouf, the ex Liverpool striker!

BETTING VERDICT

I have a feeling Chelsea will fail to win this. But I am torn between taking Leeds to pull the 90 min win and taking them to push the game past regular time. I think I'll take the middle option, and go with Leeds to pull the upset in either 90 mins, 120 mins or pens.

I'll stick my neck out and go with Leeds to qualify.
