Inverness lie 2nd in the SPL, but are 15 points behind leaders Celtic, who are the visitors for the early Saturday kickoff. This is actually a great spot for Inverness, because Celtic are not just on the road, but come here with their minds firmly on Tuesdays Champions League knockout phase match against Italian Giants Juventus.
While I've been talking a lot of Celtic's scoring ability and profiting from being proved correct, thanks to players like Hooper, it is Inverness that have the leagues leading scorer. Billy McKay has 17 goals in the league this season, and 21 in total through 30 games, which is a fantastic return. In a big game situation at home, I expect not just him, but his entire team to put up the biggest performance of the season.
Celtic may have won their last away game 3-0 at Raith, but they didn't have a massive match looming to distract them. The previous time they travelled they were in fact beaten 3-2 by St. Mirren in cup action, so we know it can be done.
Inverness actually lost their last match, crashing out of the cup too, 2-0 at Kilmarnock. That followed a 2-1 league loss at St. Mirren, and those 2 results mean there will be maximum effort to get the win here, which would do much to help the mood at the club. Indeed, their home form is not something to worry about, with the team winning 3-0 against Aberdeen in their last league match.
The main reason for this bet is the spot. It's terrible for Celtic, as every player will want to remain fit and be in contention for that massive home game against Juventus, where they will be hopeful having already scored a dream win over Barcelona. A lack of concentration can be fatal, even for the top sides, and who better to take advantage than the team sitting 2nd.
THE BETTING VERDICT
The easy bet is to take both teams to net at 1.70, as I feel this is a banker. However, we have to take our chances when they present themselves and so I'm going to suggest we bet against the Celtic win. Celtic are massive odds on, and that must be opposed as they continue to think about Juve.
We could go the AH route with +0.5 with Inverness, but at odds of 6.00 there is no way I can ignore a bet on the home win.
