A Sports Betting Pick by Lamps
Football : England : Premiership
Sunday 17th February - Kickoff 3:00pm
Liverpool
Liverpool blew their chance to make up ground on the top 6 by losing 0-2 to West Brom on Monday night. The Reds are now 6 points off the European places and a huge 12 off Spurs in 4th.
Rodgers side are winless in 3 games draw 2 ahead of the only Premiership game this weekend. Having dropped points in their first home game earlier in the week they can't afford to do so again 5 days later.
At home the loss to Albion is their first in 3 games, of which ending the 3 game winning run. 5 wins from the last 7 is still a good home record and with no draws over this run we usually get a winner in Liverpool home games.
The blank on Monday is their first in 8 homes. Previously they scored 12 goals in 3 home games which is excellent and it's not as though they didn't have chances in Monday's game having nearly 20 attempts at goal.
Swansea City
Swansea City thumped QPR (4-1) at the weekend to move into 7th place a point ahead of Liverpool. With safety virtually assured already the rest of the season will be a freeroll for the Welsh side.
Laudrup's men have lost 1 of their last 9 league games. However, they have only won 3 of these with 5 draws ticking over their points tally each week.
Away from home the loss at West Ham (1-0) ended an unbeaten run of 4 games. Again 3 were draws with just a single victory, so whilst they are hard to beat they don't have enough to win games on their travels.
Swansea has failed to score in their last 3 away games and 5 of 6 which is a huge worry. The fact that they have 3 0-0's and 2 1-0's over this period suggests they offer very little going forward but remain resolute in defence.
Betting Verdict
Liverpool are priced around 1.60 to win this game and I think they will bounce back from Monday's loss to beat the Swans.
Swansea are tough to beat but given they have a Capital One Cup final just around the corner and rarely score away from home. This looks the time to take them on.
The last 6 away losses for Swansea going back into May of last season have been by 2 goals or less. A bit like on Monday, I fancy the hosts to win but it won't be by a big margin and 1-0 looks a huge runner in this one.
I'm going to give Liverpool another chance on Saturday to win by 1 or 2 goals. There has been some blow outs at home for the Reds but Swansea has conceded just 3 goals in the last 7 away games.
Swansea draw a lot of games on their travels and that's the fear more than a huge home win. Ideally Liverpool don't miss a penalty at 0-0 like they did on Monday and I envisage a 1-0/2-0 home win.
Good Luck
