BETTING PREVIEW
Borussia Dortmund may have lost their title to Bayern Munich, but boy are they impressing audiences and giving us some cracking football. Last weekend, they travelled away and put a 6-1 beating on Greuther Furth, just days after beating Malaga here 3-2 in the craziest finish since the 1999 CL final.
Dortmund's home results show a serious dominance. They did Augsburg here 4-2 despite going behind, were 5-1 winners here a bit before that when Freiburg visited. In total, they've chalked up 72 goals this season, although they have allowed 35 goals, in fact, that's 1 more than Mainz have allowed!
But Mainz have just scored 36, half the output of their hosts, whom they have never beaten here. The last 3 meetings have all been won by Dortmund, funnily by the same score: 2-1. I think this one might end 2-1 or 3-1, so get on that if you like your correct score punts.
Mainz come here in terrible form, winning just 1 of their last 10 league games. They've lost 6 and drawn the other 3, which inspires no confidence. Dortmund have scored 17 goals in their last 4 league games, all wins.
THE BETTING VERDICT
Klopp, the manager of Dortmund, has history with Mainz, with whom he spent his entire career as a player before becoming coach and leading them to promotion. Anyway, there is talk of him making changes as there is the Champions League in midweek to think about. However, Dortmund have proved they aren't about to take it easy on anyone, and Lewandowski will surely try to add to his record of scoring in 11 straight games.
I think we can go with Dortmund to win here, but let's take them to do it while conceding, something they seem to do most games.
