It’s a lower half clash in the Blue Square Premier next up as hosts Hyde take on Lincoln City in this weekend’s last round of fixtures for the non-league elite division.

Hyde had previously been in cracking form up until the end of March where they’d racked up a run of five straight wins with victories over Luton Town 2-1 away, a 3-0 home win over Dartford, an away win at Hereford United and back-to-back home wins against Cambridge United and Wrexham no less.

Since then though, they’ve won just once from their last four with a win over poor Ebbsfleet United but suffered defeats to Braintree Town and Nuneaton Town, but they have the opportunity to end their season on a high at their Ewen Fields ground when they take on a poor travelling Lincoln City side.

Hyde’s home record stands at 9-5-8 34/26 and they’ve won four of their last five in front of their own fans.

LINCOLN CITY

Lincoln City can still mathematically be relegated if they lose and Stockport County win by five clear goals but given Stockport are away at Kidderminster who must win if they are to have a chance at automatic promotion, it seems highly unlikely!

Lincoln have once again had an up and down season, failing to put any sort of meaningful winning runs together and as a result, find themselves in the bottom half of this division yet again. A recent trio of wins over Telford, Braintree Town and Alfreton Town were then followed by back-to-back defeats to Kidderminster and Luton Town (both 0-3 away from home) but they then managed a home win over Tamworth last weekend.

The Imps’ home record has been steady, but away from home they’ve struggled with an overall record of 5-6-11 27/36 and they’ve won just two away matches from their last twelve on their travels. They make the trip to Hyde looking to avoid a third successive away defeat.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

Hyde have been pretty strong in recent weeks at home and I’ll back them to post the points here against a poor Lincoln outfit, but I recommend taking the round ball for insurance but at still a good price. Hyde could edge this 1-0.
