CRAWLEY TOWN
Next up is a bottom half clash in League One on Tuesday night between hosts Crawley Town and Tranmere Rovers at the Checkatrade.com Stadium with just one point and one league place separating the two sides.
Crawley have put in some promising performances of late having lost just once in their last six matches with wins over 3rd placed Leyton Orient 3-2 away no less and a 1-0 home win over Notts County along with points against 4th placed Preston North End 2-2 at home and valuable away points at Coventry City and another top six side Rotherham United, both in 2-2 draws.
Crawley’s recent defeat was a 0-2 home loss to MK Dons but it’s been their only down moment in their last five on home turf as they’ve taken points off visiting Walsall, Swindon Town and Preston while their overall home record stands at 5-4-4 13/15.
TRANMERE ROVERS
Tranmere Rovers grabbed a point away at Bristol City in a 2-2 draw at the weekend and will now face another long trip down to West Sussex on Tuesday night o take on Crawley Town. It’s been a mixed return of results for Tranmere lately with wins over Crewe Alexandra 1-0 at home and a 1-0 win away at MK Dons but also defeats to Rotherham United 1-2 at home and another home loss to Preston again by 1-2.
On the road, Tranmere have also recorded a recent win away at second from bottom club Shrewsbury Town but defeats away at third from bottom Sheffield United and 6th placed Peterborough United have kept the merseysiders in the bottom quarter of League One. Tranmere’s overall away record stands at 5-3-8 17/25.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
Of the two sides, Crawley Town have the edge here I feel not only because of home advantage tonight but because of recent solid results against some of the top six sides along with their match on Saturday being postponed, I expect them to be fresher than their opponents tonight. Crawley to nick this perhaps 2-1.
