GREEN BAY PACKERS

Green Bay entertain their old coach Mike Holmgren, and bring in a special 13-3 record from the regular season. They won the NFC North with ease and they did it with the youngest team in the NFL by average age. The experience of Brett Favre helped carry the team, but the deep threat of Greg Jennings and the emergence of running back Ryan Grant really helped the offense. The Packers have one of the better defenses in the league, with arguably the 2 best corners in the NFL and a pass rush that loves collapsing the pocket. Green Bay went 7-1 at Lambeau Field during the regular season.

Green Bay managed to win 3 of their final 4 regular season games and missed the chance to win the number 1 seed in the NFC after losing in Chicago. They only managed 7 points in that game, but have scored 30+ points in each of those 3 victories. The Packers have already beaten 2 other playoff teams at home this season in San Diego and Washington. The Packers have scored at least 31 points in each of their last 4 games at Lambeau Field. In the same period, the defense has not allowed a team to score more than 17 points, restricting 2 of those teams to less than double digits in points.

Green Bay do not have any real concerns with injuries as the week off last week has helped players heal.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

The last time Seattle came to play Green Bay in the playoffs at Lambeau Field, the game went into overtime and Matt Hasselbeck exclaimed at the coin toss that 'we want the ball and we are going to score'. A couple of plays later and he did throw a TD- an intercepted pass by Al Harris was run to the house and Green Bay progressed. After defeating Washington last week with a huge defensive effort, Seattle, the reigning NFC West Champions, bring their 10-6 record to Lambeau Field. However they only went 3-5 on the road during the regular season.

Seattle lost 2 of their last 3 regular season games, but the win last week over Washington will have given the team some confidence. However the offense will need to play a lot better as it was 2 interceptions returned for TDs that really padded the 35-17 win for the Seahawks. Seattle have lost their last 2 games on the road. They only played one playoff team on the road this season and were heavily defeated, 21-0, at Pittsburgh.

Matt Hasselbeck has been resting injuries all week but will be good to go and his presence will be needed when considering the lack of a running game for the Seahawks. DJ Hackett will be a late decision and his receiving spot will be taken by Bobby Engram if he is indeed out.

Both teams have good defenses, but I think Green Bay can mix their offense up more with runs, short passes, and the long one to Greg Jennings, whereas Seattle struggle to run the ball meaning it will be up to Hasselbeck to beat both Charles Woodson and Al Harris which wont be easy.

The experience is with Seattle, but I think the youngsters of Green Bay show no fear and win.
