Juventus Team News
Two 3-0 wins, six points, and a spot at the top of the table if they win here, as Inter already wasted two points and has seven in total.
What's impressive about Juventus and Thiago Motta is that team, same as last season's and therefore deprived of any creativity in midfield, is now creating good goalscoring chances.
Motta-ball means moving around a lot and passing to an open player, and this usually means the player who got passed to has acres of space. For players of this quality, this means an easy goal.
Vlahovic is our pick for the top goalscorer in this season. Or simply get in early with a bet on 3.40 on Juventus to win the title.
Roma Team News
Things haven't gone quite according to plan for Roma, to say the least, as they were given Cagliari and Empoli in the first two rounds and they have one point. They were too cautious in Cagliari so the match ended 0-0, and then Empoli did an Empoli on them with a 1-2 win and an impressive counter-attacking performance.
Could this be a sign that Daniele De Rossi is not, in fact, a good coach, and that he only had temporary success while the players were still playing Mourinho tactics but a bit more offensively? Also, Lukaku is no longer here, and these forwards are all flaky, won't enter physical duels. Roma could be in for a difficult season.
Probable Lineups
Juventus (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio - Savona, Bremer, Gatti, Cabal - Fagioli, Locatelli - Cambiaso, Yildiz, Mangula - Vlahovic. Coach Motta.
Roma (4-3-2-1): Svilar - Celik, Mancini, Ndicka, Angelino - Cristante, Paredes, Pellegrini - Dybala, Soule - Dovbyk. Coach De Rossi.
Thuram is injured for Juventus so Fagioli will enter the starting lineup. Roma lost Le Fee until round 5. Cristante will deputize.
The Betting Market
Juventus is a 1.80 favourite and that sounds about right. In a derby, this actually means that Juventus is seriously seen as the much stronger side and that they're realistically expected to win this game. We agree.
Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 2.00 while the Under is priced at 1.80, and we see some value on the Under as Juventus' derbies usually have zero or one goal. Roma is an offensive side but they won't have much say here.
The Betting Verdict
There's no reason to bet on anything else than a straight up victory for Juventus. Motta-ball is a mismatch for Roma - they lost 2-0 in Bologna and 1-3 in Rome last season - and we don't really give the visitors too many chances here. Juventus tightens up in derbies and plays better than in matches against inferior opponents.
