Vancouver Whitecaps will be keen to not only protect their impressive 10-game unbeaten sequence in the MLS, but also add to their points tally when the Canadian hosts welcome Seattle Sounders to BC Place in this all-Western Conference clash.
The Canadian outfit were recently dealt a heavy 5-0 thrashing away from home at the hands of Mexican Liga MX side Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions Cup but Jesper Sorensen’s side will be eager to return to the bread and butter of the MLS where they sit top of the Western Conference table.
The upcoming hosts hold a two-point cushion over nearest rivals San Diego FC and Minnesota United but they also have two games in hand and with a solid looking home record of 5-2-1 16/8 to their name on home turf, Vancouver Whitecaps stand a very decent chance of a result here.
Seattle Sounders will make the 380km round flight to Vancouver on the back of a disappointing 3-2 loss at home to Minnesota United which prevented the upcoming visitors from making up ground on the top three clubs in the Western Conference ladder.
Brian Schmetzer’s side had previously put together a three-game unbeaten run in the MLS which consisted of back-to-back home wins against San Diego FC and Dallas FC respectively which followed on from a worthy 1-1 draw on the road at Portland Timbers.
However, Seattle Sounders’ form on the road so far in this season’s MLS campaign has been fairly underwhelming as the visitors currently possess an indifferent looking away record of 2-3-4 7/14 under their belts, and these disappointing numbers could hold Seattle back once again on their travels.
