Monaco will be seeking a swift return to winning ways in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon when they entertain Strasbourg following last weekend’s 1-0 defeat away from home at Lille.
The French principality had previously registered a comprehensive 3-1 home win over last season’s Ligue 1 strugglers Le Havre on the opening day of the new French top flight season and although Adolf Hütter’s side slipped to defeat last time out, the upcoming hosts will fancy their chances of securing all three points on home soil on Sunday.
A promising pre-season saw Monaco suffer just one defeat in their six warm-up games which also included picking up wins against the likes of Arminia Bielefeld and two winning XI’s against Torino.
In the previous Ligue 1 campaign, Monaco boasted an overall home record of 12-3-2 38/16.
Strasbourg are also enjoying early success under English manager Liam Rosenior as the visitors have won both of their opening two games in this new Ligue 1 campaign which have come in the form of victories gained over Metz 1-0 away and a 1-0 home win against Nantes.
In between the two wins and the two clean sheets, Strasbourg were held to a 0-0 stalemate at home by Danish outfit Brondby in the 1st leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off tie and at the time of writing, Liam Rosenior’s side are due to travel to Denmark for the return leg on Thursday night.
Last season’s campaign saw Strasbourg register a pretty inconsistent looking record away from home with stats of 6-4-7 23/24 to their name on their travels.
