Wolfsburg are falling rapidly towards 2.Bundesliga, and things look very bleak.
They are winless in 11 straight matches, and another loss will set a new all-time low. They had a winless run of 12 games in 1998, but that was over two seasons, and now they have it within one.
Wolfsburg is second from the bottom, and even a win would not move them out of there. They are four points behind the relegation playoff spot and six points behind safety, but don’t look capable of saving themselves.
Last week, they showed a horrific defensive display in the 6-3 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.
They are no different at home, either, where they suffered four straight defeats before this game.
Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt is 7th but massive 10 points behind the last sixth spot for Europe. This is a lost season for them, but they will try to finish it on a high note.
They lost 2-1 to Mainz and played 2-2 against Koln in their last two, so they have a slight pressure to break that negative trend.
Another thing they must break is their dismal away run of six straight trips without a win (three draws, three losses).
The Betting Verdict
Four of the last six Bundesliga duels between the sides ended in draws, including their last two which ended in identical 1-1.
Wolfsburg is clearly the weaker side. Last week, they blew a lead for a whopping 12th time this season and lost for the seventh time after being in a winning position.
Eintracht Frankfurt aren’t much better in recent weeks. Their motivation is gone, but they are still better than Wolfsburg.
If I have to choose between two almost identical odds for a win, I am going with the better overall team, Eintracht Frankfurt. Take the away win here.
