Verona Team News
Verona is still without a win, if we don't count the cup as they won against Audace Cerignola (we don't know that team either), barely, after penalties, and then proceeded to lose against Serie B side Venezia in the following round without even scoring. Meaning, Verona can't even beat lower division sides, let alone Serie A sides.
It's not like their schedule has been difficult either. It was very easy as they played Udinese, Cremonese, Sassuolo and Pisa in seven rounds so far -- and we can add Cagliari to the easy list. All those matches were draws except for the 0-1 home defeat to Sassuolo, all were low-scoring, and in three out of four Verona was left scoreless.
Inter Milan Team News
There's a setback here and there for Inter, and it always seems to come on the road against the big team and the defence looks non-existant. Inter conceded four to Juventus in that 4-3 defeat and now three to Napoli in a 3-1 defeat. It's as if Inter tries to dominate and play football, yet leaves the soft underbelly exposed as a result.
As a result of what, you ask? Well, possibly as a result of not having enough pace. The common denominator of Juventus and Napoli scoring at will is Acerbi, 37, at the heart of the three-man defence. Great player but he wasn't fast a decade ago either -- possibly not the best choice for road matches. When McTominay was scoring the second goal for Napoli from a counter attack, Bastoni saw what will happen and tried to catch him (failed), and Acerbi was completely lost and then of course couldn't make up for it by vetaran jogging. Third goal by Anguissa from a normal attack - same thing for Acerbi. An error in positioning first, then Anguissa flew by.
Not hating on Acerbi at all, a real stand up guy and a role model for many, but it might be wise to check the starting lineups and then either place a BTTS-Yes or a BTTS-No bet based on whether he's there or not. You read it here first. Pace problems are understandable, but positioning errors are not.
Probable Lineups
Verona (3-5-2): Montipo - Nelsson, Bella-Kotchap, Valentini - Belghali, Serdar, Gagliardini, Bernede, Frese - Giovane, Orban. Coach Zanetti.
Inter (3-5-2): Sommer - Akanji, De Vrij, Carlos Augusto - Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Sucic, Dimarco - Lautaro, Bonny. Coach Chivu.
The Betting Market
The price on Inter is 1.42, as expected, too low for consideration as the official bet even though it's a nice banker. Inter will win this, Verona will get run over. The handicap win would be worth 2.20.
The Over/Under market isn't even worth mentioning as we'd be betting on the number of goals Inter will score, so neither the Over at 1.80 nor the Under at 2.00 look particularly appealing.
Both Teams To Score: NO at 1.80, on the other hand, looks like a value bet. Verona is actually entering good goalscoring chances but can't seem to score them most of the time. They're either hot or cold -- they score two or don't score at all. The forward duo is formidable at times, clumsy most of the time.
The Betting Verdict
There's practically no other way to bet on Inter matches than to bet on them to win with a handicap. We won't go with a full -1.50 handicap for 2.20 though, we prefer the safety net of the -1.00 handicap that gets us our stake back in the event of a one-goal win for Inter. It's possible that this would be the correct way to approach Inter's matches against bottom-half teams.
