After a three-match winless run in the domestic fourth tier, Barnet returned to winning ways last weekend with a welcome and most impressive 3-1 win away from home at promotion candidates MK Dons to lift Saturday’s upcoming hosts up into a mid-table position of 12th place in the League Two table.
Barnet had previously been handed back-to-back losses against the likes of Salford City and Newport County along with a 1-1 draw away from home at Crawley Town but last weekend’s worthy away win will give The Bees a welcome boost.
Being situated in a mid-table position though, Barnet’s results in recent times have rather predictably been something of a mixed bag but the bigger picture shows Dean Brennan’s side have slipped to just four defeats in their last 14 league matches overall.
Cambridge United occupy 3rd place in the League Two standings following a 1-0 home win against play-off hopefuls Salford City which also became a ninth game without defeat in the fourth tier for Neil Harris’s side.
Five wins along with points gained in four draws have helped maintain The Us’ push for automatic promotion back up to League One but the visitors know they cannot afford to slip-up at Barnet on Saturday with the likes of Notts County breathing down their necks.
However, this may be easier said than done though as Cambridge United possess a fairly ordinary looking record away from home which stands at 7-7-5 22/16 which includes being involved in two draws on the trot on their travels in recent outings.
