This always looked like a daunting World Cup Qualifying Group for Kazakhstan and it has played out that way with elimination from the next Finals confirmed. They conclude the Qualifying Group on Saturday, but there are some positives for Kazakhstan to take out of the performances, while Kairat Almaty's Champions League experiences will help the national team ahead of the Euro 2028 Qualifiers that begin in around eighteen months time.
For now the focus will be for Kazakhstan to try and play spoiler in the final Group game, even if they are unlikely to improve on a final finishing position of 4th in the section. They have been a little more competitive when hosting, although Kazakhstan have ended up falling to 0-1 defeats to both North Macedonia and Wales in this Group.
Kazakhstan had lost 4 matches in a row, but they came out of the October internationals with a win over Liechtenstein and a draw in North Macedonia, which has damaged the chances of the latter to earn a top two spot. Belgium
In recent years, merely getting into a major tournament Finals would not have been seen as enough for the Belgium national team. They have been amongst the favourites in recent major tournaments, but the 'golden generation' has aged out and Rudi Garcia has his work cut out to make Belgium really competitive in the 2026 World Cup.
They have yet to secure their place in those Finals, but a win on Saturday will take Belgium through- failing to do that will still mean having another chance when hosting Liechtenstein so it would be a monster failure for Belgium to miss out now. They came from behind to beat Wales and take control of the Group in the October internationals and Belgium's only failures to win in this section have both been against North Macedonia.
Belgium are unbeaten in 7 games in all competitions after a relatively disappointing run in the Nations League, although they have done enough to maintain League A status. They had failed to win any of 7 away games, but Belgium have turned things around in this World Cup Qualifying Group and will be chasing a third straight victory on their travels.
Kevin De Bruyne is set to miss out, even though he was named in the squad.

Rudi Garcia and the squad would like to confirm top spot in the Group on Saturday, but a home game against Liechtenstein is coming up and so Belgium can play without any serious pressure.
This should help as they prepare for the visit to Astana against a Kazakhstan team that are improving and who have given North Macedonia and Wales something to think about when those two have visited earlier in the section.
Having something to think about is not the same as picking up points though and Kazakhstan lost both Qualifiers 0-1, while they have struggled to deal with the Belgium quality in recent years.
