Six wins will give teams an opportunity to play in a Bowl Game, but the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens (6-6) have only just joined the FBS and that means a transitional period. However, a number of schools withdrew from Bowl consideration, including the very disappointed Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and that meant the Fightin' Blue Hens have been afforded this opportunity.
They are facing the Louisiana Rajin' Cajuns (6-6) who are playing in a Bowl Game for the eighth year in a row, although they have lost three in a row.
This game is being hosted in Mobile, Alabama, which is a lot closer to the Louisiana campus compared with Delaware, although the Fightin' Blue Hens fans will likely travel for a first ever Bowl Game appearance.
Both teams will take very different approaches to the game when they have the ball in hand and so it will come down to which of the two Defensive units can exert their dominance the best.
Louisiana have won four in a row to become Bowl eligible so there will be a real confidence around the team, especially as they have shown character to come through some tight, competitive games. Keeping the momentum is important and the Rajin' Cajuns are going to lean on the Offensive Line and try and make sure they are pounding the rock with some consistency.
This is the key for Louisiana, who have struggled for some consistency in the passing game.
However, being in third and manageable spots should make things that much more comfortable and the Rajin' Cajuns will be attacking a Delaware Secondary that had been struggling down the stretch.
While the favourites will be looking to pound the ball on the ground, Delaware are led by Quarter Back Nick Minicucci who has been comfortable stepping into the pocket and firing the ball downfield. The Fightin' Blue Hens have had big passing numbers all season and they will be hugely encouraged by the struggles Louisiana have had in the Secondary.
It will be important to find some balance- Delaware have not ran the ball as efficiently as they would have liked, but the Louisiana Defensive Line have not been making a lot of positive stops as they perhaps focus on having enough players falling into the Secondary rather than coming up to the Line of Scrimmage.
The Rajin' Cajuns will certainly have a real belief in the pass rush and look to take Nick Minicucci out of his game and slow down the attack.
Prediction
This should be a fun Bowl Game with two teams looking like they have plenty of opportunity to move the ball, albeit in two very different ways.
It should mean a close, competitive encounter and so taking the points with the underdog looks the call.
