Cheltenham Town returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion in League Two last weekend as The Robins dismantled Walsall with a 4-0 win away from home at the Bescot Stadium after failing to win any of their previous four matches.
The west country hosts are virtually safe from relegation now under manager Steve Cotterill despite picking up just two wins from their last nine matches overall but on the flip-side, The Robins have suffered just two defeats in their last 12 matches in the fourth tier.
Cheltenham have collected three wins within this 12-match period while also being involved in no fewer than seven stalemates as well, while the hosts possess an overall home record which stands at 7-4-8 23/25 so far this season.
Newport County continued to claw their way out of trouble down near the foot of the League Two table last weekend as The Exiles grabbed a useful three-point haul by way of a welcome 2-1 home win over fellow strugglers Harrogate Town which has given the visitors a four-point cushion above the bottom two clubs.
The Welsh club have tended to deal either in wins or losses in recent weeks in the domestic fourth tier as the visitors have registered four wins but have also slipped to five defeats within their last nine matches overall in League Two.
Interestingly, three of Newport County’s four wins have been achieved on home soil at Rodney Parade but a poor away record standing at 5-3-13 22/38 suggests this upcoming trip to Whaddon Road may be a tough assignment for Christian Fuchs’s side.
The Betting Verdict
Cheltenham Town have won each of the last four meetings against Newport County.
The Pick :
Cheltenham Town 1-0 Newport County
