Borussia Dortmund have six points from their opening two Bundesliga games after beating Hamburger SV 2-0 and coming from two goals down to win 2-3 away against TSG Hoffenheim last weekend.
Striker Serhou Guirassy has been outstanding so far, scoring in both league matches, contributing a goal and an assist in the comeback against TSG Hoffenheim, before adding two more in Tuesday's 3-2 Champions League win over Villarreal.
The concern is that Borussia Dortmund have not been completely convincing defensively. They were second best for long spells at TSG Hoffenheim and are still missing several defenders, including Nico Schlotterbeck and Emre Can, while Filippo Mané is also sidelined.
SC Paderborn
SC Paderborn have taken one point from their first two Bundesliga games, drawing 0-0 at Mainz before losing 0-1 at home to SC Freiburg. That means they have conceded just one goal so far, although keeping Borussia Dortmund quiet at the Signal Iduna Park is a very different proposition.
This is SC Paderborn's first Bundesliga season since 2019/20, and they are facing a Borussia Dortmund side they have never beaten. The previous six competitive meetings produced four Borussia Dortmund wins and two draws, including a memorable 3-3 draw at this stadium in 2019.
The Betting Verdict
Borussia Dortmund are understandably very short in the match-winner market, currently around 1.20-25 with most bookmakers. That makes the straight win less attractive on its own, especially with BVB coming off a Champions League game in midweek.
The better route looks to be Borussia Dortmund's goals. SC Paderborn have defended well so far, but Borussia Dortmund have scored five in their first two Bundesliga games, and Guirassy is in excellent form.
I would bump the odds a bit with a combo win of Borussia Dortmund to win & over 2.5 goals. Perhaps handicap bets like Borussia Dortmund -1.5 are also worth a look as a decent bet.
