Atletico Madrid head into this fixture in excellent domestic form, having won five consecutive La Liga matches. Diego Simeone's side have collected 22 points from nine games and sit second in the table, keeping the pressure on leaders Barcelona.
Their recent victories over Real Sociedad, Osasuna, Real Madrid, Alaves and Espanyol underline their consistency. Atletico have also been particularly strong at home against Deportivo, winning 12 consecutive home league meetings with the Galician side.
Selection concerns remain, with Koke, Cristian Romero and Johnny Cardoso unavailable. Nevertheless, Atletico retain plenty of quality in midfield and attack, with Julian Alvarez, Alex Baena and Giuliano Simeone expected to play important roles.
Deportivo La Coruna
Deportivo have made a respectable return to the Spanish top flight but arrive in Madrid without a victory in their last five league matches. Their latest outing ended in a 1-1 draw against Levante, leaving Antonio Hidalgo's team ninth in the table with 11 points.
The visitors have generally been competitive, although their recent inability to turn draws into victories is becoming a concern. Several attacking absences make their task harder, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Zakaria Eddahchouri and Bright Ede. Yeremay Hernandez is also a doubt.
Deportivo have struggled historically at the Metropolitano, and their current injury problems could make it difficult to cope with Atletico's pressing and attacking intensity from the opening whistle.
Betting Verdict
Atletico Madrid are deserved favourites, but the full-time home win offers a different proposition from backing Simeone's team to make a fast start.
The hosts have won five consecutive league matches and should be keen to establish control early, especially with Barcelona leading the table. Their excellent home record against Deportivo provides further encouragement.
The visitors' attacking absences are another important factor. Without several forward options, Deportivo may struggle to threaten consistently, allowing Atletico to commit players forward and dictate the tempo.
Although Atletico drew 1-1 with Stuttgart midweek, their domestic form has been considerably stronger. Backing the hosts to lead at half-time looks an appealing option, especially if they can reproduce the intensity shown in recent league victories.
