Two relegation-threatened sides meet, although it’s early enough in the season that one win could make a meaningful difference to either team’s position. Three points here would be well worth chasing.
There’s little to choose between them on current league form, with Genoa sitting at 1-1-5 and Venezia at 1-0-6. But once again, in Italy, I think the venue is the key.
Venezia have lost all three of their away games so far this season. The last time they were in Serie A, in 2024-25, they managed just nine draws and ten defeats from 19 away matches.
This probably is one of Venezia’s better chances to break that run, but you’ll not find me taking odds of just 3.75 on a side whose recent away record makes for such grim reading. Across their last 22 away games, they’re 0-9-13.
Instead, I make Genoa around 60% likely to win, which makes the 2.10 on offer look the better play.
It’s not a glamorous selection, and I’m not expecting fireworks. But we don’t get paid extra for picking the most entertaining bet. We get paid when the price is better than the chance of winning warrants.
