This game is live on TV
Slavia Prague
The current Czechia Champions have opened up a big lead at the top of the Division early in the campaign, but Slavia Prague are well aware of the huge gap they need to bridge to compete in the Champions League. Avoiding finishing in the bottom third of the League Phase standings is already looking difficult for Slavia Prague after the opening three results.
They are 32nd in the Champions League standings and Slavia Prague have picked up a single point, despite facing Lens, Sabah and Fenerbahce. With that being said, the remaining five games look really tough on paper and Slavia Prague were only able to earn 3 points in the League Phase last season.
Slavia Prague are unbeaten in 5 games in all competitions since the surprising 2-0 defeat to Sabah and the side have won consecutive fixtures. They are unbeaten in 4 at home in all competitions since the 2-3 defeat to Lens on Match Day 1 of the Champions League Group Stage, but Slavia Prague have had to settle for draws twice in that run.
All is not well in the Slavia Prague squad with Tomas Chory under a club suspension and a number of players missing with illness or injury.
Arsenal
Mikel Arteta has helped Arsenal end a long wait to become English Champions and he oversaw an important win at Anfield on Sunday with his team moving clear at the top of the domestic standings. This is a club that have never won the European Cup, but Arsenal reached the Final last year and fans will be confident they can go one better this season.
The most immediate ambition in the Champions League is to finish in the top eight of the standings and avoid an unnecessary extra Knock Out tie in February and The Gunners are 7th with 7 points on the board. The side had won 14 straight League Phase matches in the Champions League before the 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich and Arsenal have already beaten both Napoli and Lille in this Group.
Arsenal were beaten on Penalties by Fleetwood Town in the League Cup Fourth Round, but have won Premier League games against Everton and Liverpool around that result. The Gunners had won 1 of the previous 4 away games in all competitions before battling for a 0-1 success at Anfield on Sunday.
Eberechi Eze joins the likes of William Saliba and Bukayo Saka on the sidelines, but a number of important squad players returned for the game at Liverpool on Sunday. The manager is likely going to rotate his options with the likes of Ben White, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino perhaps being drafted into the starting lineup.
Head to Head
These two clubs met here in the Champions League Group Stage last season and Arsenal ran away with a 0-3 win.
Arsenal also won 0-4 here in the Europa League in 2021.
Prediction
You have to expect Mikel Arteta to rest some of his key players after the huge effort they put into winning at Liverpool on Sunday, but there are plenty of quality players who will be coming into the lineup with something to prove.
This is also a step down compared with the usual level of opponent as Czechia Champions Slavia Prague have struggled to make the leap to the Champions League level.
Last season Slavia Prague earned just 3 points in the Champions League Group Stage and they may struggle to surpass that number after the opening three games of this League Phase. After matches against Lens, Sabah and Fenerbahce, Slavia Prague would have expected more than the single point on the board and this is a really big test for them.
Back to back wins domestically have given Slavia Prague some momentum, but Arsenal showed last year that they have enough to secure a pretty comfortable win in the Czech capital.
Arsenal have done what is needed to get through the League Phase of the Champions League without too much fuss and they can get back to winning ways after the 2-2 draw in Munich last month.
Even with the changes expected, Arsenal should be strong enough at both ends of the pitch to eventually overwhelm the hosts and secure another comfortable win on this ground as they did last year.
