Champions League
2005-12-06 - PSV Eindhoven vs Fenerbahce
A Sports Betting Pick by Erik
PSV plays Fenerbahce at home tonight in a group that has a lot of scenario's. PSV needs the win in order to qualify for the next phase, without having to worry about the result in Milan.PSV EINDHOVEN
Last weekend PSV beat NAC Breda at home 3-0. Vennegoor, Farfan and Kone scored for PSV and especially Farfan is in great form recently.
Scoring already nine goals this season he certainly is the man to watch tonight and I wouldn't be surprised if he'd get his name on the score sheet again.
PSV lost away to Fenerbahce 3-0 a couple of weeks ago, but this had much to do with the red card of Vennegoor in the first half. The 1-0 came out of a penalty due to a handsball from the same Vennegoor, who played a very unlucky game in Turkey.
PSV needs a win in order to qualify or can satisfy with a draw if Schalke beats Milan tonight.
FENERBAHCE
Fenerbahce still is in the race for an UEFA Cup ticket. If they beat PSV in Eindhoven tonight, PSV will end up 4th in the group and Fenerbahce will qualify for the UEFA Cup. If PSV and Fenerbahce draw tonight and Schalke doesn't win in Milan, PSV will end up 3rd.
Current Standings group E
1. AC Milan 5-8 (9-4)
2. Schalke 04 5-8 (10-6)
3. PSV 5-7 (2-6)
4. Fenerbahce 5-4 (7-12)
Team news/injuries
PSV will play without Beasley tonight. He has not fully recovered from his injury. Reiziger is doubtful. Afellay and Ooijer will be back after being injured last weekend.
Fenerbahce welcomes back Alex in the team and he's an important player for Fenerbahce.
Probable line-ups
PSV: Gomes, Lucius, Alex, Ooijer, Lamey, Afellay, Simons, Cocu, Farfan, Vennegoor and Robert
Fenerbahce: Volkan, Serkan, Luciano, Turaci, Ozat, Yozgatli, Appiah, Aurelio, Alex and Anelka
Verdict
PSV needs a win in order to secure the second place and I think they will get it. PSV is very strong at home and the whole team is highly motivated to win this one tonight.
Guus Hiddink is one of these coaches that know how important a single game can be and with his experience I believe PSV will win this one.
They want to make up for the 3-0 loss away and with the return of Afellay the creativity on the midfield will be even more.
I also fancy Farfan to score tonight. With already nine goals in the competition and the important 1-0 against AC Milan he has proven he's capable of it.
BEST BETTING TIP :
Home win for PSV with medium/high stakesFarfan to score anytime with small stakes
