2009-04-26 - AC Milan vs Palermo
A Sports Betting Pick by Shady
Football: Italy, Serie A
Sunday 26th April 2009 - Kickoff 14:00
AC Milan are enjoying a good run with back to back to back wins in the league and they would want to finish in 2nd spot in the league while Palermo is trying its best to push for a spot in Europe.
AC Milan (2nd - Home Rec : 13-2-1 33:8)
Carlo Ancelotti side had been scoring for fun lately after scoring five against Torino last weekend and five again in midweek in a friendly game. Ancelotti is delight with his side recent performance therefore I believe he should start with almost the same starting eleven as last week.
Filippo Inzaghi scored a hat-trick in last weekend’s win for AC Milan against Torino and the 36 year old former Italian international forward was playing as if he was still in his mid 20’s.
Ancelotti will be without the services of Gennaro Gatusso , Marco Borriello, Alessandro Nesta, Kakha Kaladze, Luca Antonini, Christian Abbaiti and Daniele Bonera who are all out with respective injuries.
Ancelotti is expected to start with Dida in goal protected by Paolo Maldini, Philippe Senderos, Gianluca Zambrotta and Massimo Ambrosini. In midfield, Andrea Pirlo is likely to play the holding role accompanied by Mathieu Flamini , David Bechkam and midfield Maestro, Kaka.
Up front, after such a splendid performance last time out, Inzaghi hopes to regain his place up front alongside Pato but I personally feel Inzaghi should make way for Ronaldinho in the starting lineup.
Palermo (7th - Away Rec : 3-4-9 13:19)
Palermo’s manager Davide Ballardini has an entire squad to select from besides Carrozzieri who will miss this clash against Milan.
Ballardini will be impressed with his side’s recent performances and is likely to recall the same starting eleven that defeated Bologna (H 4-1) and drew with Inter Milan (A 2-2) in the last two weeks.
Marco Amelia will have to play a vital part in goal if Ballardini’s side were to have any chance against on-form Milan.
Upfront, forward Edison Cavani will be heavily banked to deliver the goods once again for Palermo. Edison Cavani has already thirteen goals to his name and he will have to be closely watched as he might cause Maldini and co a little problem.
Betting Statistic :
Under the asian handicap line this season, Ac Milan managed to win seven out of the possible sixteen home games, losing six of them.
On the other hand, Palermo are currently ranked 20th in the league based on away record under the asian handicap line. Palermo only managed to win four out of the sixteen games played on the road, losing nine. The four away wins for Palermo came against Inter Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina and Sampdoria.
The Betting Verdict :
Many believe that Palermo would rise to the occasion once again like they did last weekend BUT I have doubts in that.
AC Milan are currently second on the table level on points with Juventus but Milan has a better goal difference. Juventus is likely to win against rock-bottom Reggina, therefore it is crucial for Milan to win and defend their league position.
