Italian Serie A
2010-04-24 - Palermo vs A.C Milan
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:As Milan's chance of landing the Scudetto is already over, the focus will now be whether Palermo the home side can challenge for a fourth spot in Serie A which comes with Champions League football next season.
Palermo had to dig deep to get the draw against Cagliari with goals coming in the 88th and 95th minute. Even though they gave up the fourth spot to Sampdoria, they are still in with a shout to finish in fourth. They will fancy themselves this weekend as since returning to Serie A six years ago, Palermo have only once lost at home to Milan, and that was in the 2005/06 season.
The problem is they will miss defensive player Dorin Goian after he collected a booking against Cagliari and misses out here today. Cesare Bovo who is recovering from a toe injury is not yet certain to start and will wait before kickoff to know if he can be fielded.
Should he fail to make the cut, the most likely alternative will be to start with Giulio Migliaccio alongside Simon Kjaer and give Nicolas Bertolo a start on the right side of midfield. Delio Rossi must also decide who will start alongside Captain Fabrizio Miccoli in attack. Abel Hernandez is the most likely candidate after scoring four goals in a mid-week friendly and the late equaliser last weekend. Edinson Cavani could be relegated to the bench if that were to happen.
As for Milan, their title hopes is as good as over after conceeding that late goal to Sampdoria. They now need five points from their last four games to ensure they finish third in the table. Coach Leonardo is likely to go in the summer and their mood is one of sombre and resignation.
They have problems of their own as Kakha Kaladze remains on the injury list, which means that Massimo Oddo will start as centre-back. The one player who has worked hard has been Marco Borriello who has scored five goals in his last four games. However after receiving a yellow card he is now suspended for this tie, alongside the likes of captain Massimo Ambrosini, and recently returned from injury Daniele Bonera.
Other than that, Mathieu Flamini will start in midfield, and up front Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will play as central striker with Amantino Mancini and Ronaldinho on either side.
Take Milan to get a draw here at least.
Cheers and good luck,
