2010-08-22 - Fulham vs Manchester United
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Manchester United knows what is at stake. Chelsea have won handsomely to go top beating Wigan on Saturday and The Red Devils knows that they cannot take Fulham for granted as two seasons ago they nine-man United were humiliated 2-0 by Roy Hodgson's men and the Cottagers also beat them by 3-0 last season.
Sir Alex Ferguson have gone on record to insist there is a score to settle when both sides meet today and those two games which they lost were the only two times United failed to score against Fulham in 11 meetings.
Last December they were beaten by Fulham due to a defensive crisis which saw midfield duo Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher play in the back four and now Ferguson must prevent the home side from registering a hat-trick of wins.
Meanwhile new Fulham manager former Manchester United player Mark Hughes will be eager to do better then when he was manager of former club Manchester City.
As Manchester City manager, Hughes faced United three times and lost all three games, the final one which saw United won the match 4-3 at Old Trafford in September.
Hughes will be hoping his back-line can cope with the threat of Wayne Rooney and also Dimitar Berbatov who has been in form in recent games. Rooney has not scored for United since March, but will be determined to get on thescoresheets for this match.
As for the team news ahead of this match, new Fulham signing Moussa Dembele could start this match. He arrived from AZ Alkmaar this week and could go straight into the starting lineup. Transfer target Schwarzer is a doubt after missing last weekend's goalless draw at Bolton with a back strain, so David Stockdale is likely to start in goal. Defender Paul Konchesky could make is first start of the season after missing their last match with an ankle injury.
As for United, Ferguson is likely to keep faith with the same side that faced Newcastle last Monday. Patrice Evra is set to continue at left-back after shrugging off a knock. However, long-term injury worries Anderson and Rio Ferdinand are out with knee injuries.
As for my pick, I will go for United to end their poor record here and get the win here.
Cheers and good luck,
