MOTHERWELL
Motherwell face Celtic on Sunday afternoon disappointed just like their opponents at their European exit on Thursday night. But unlike Celtic Motherwell can hold their heads a little high as they more than matched their Danish opponents and missed a host of chances before losing 3-1 on aggregate and 1-0 on the night at Fir Park.
This is certainly a fixtures which produces goals, last season Celtic won here 3-2 in a cracking game and the previous season saw them win by 4-2. Gordon Strachans first SPL game as manager of Celtic in 2005 ended in a 4-4 draw against Motherwell in this fixture. Craig Browns side have had a mixed start to their SPL campaign with one win and one defeat. They lost 3-2 at home to Hibs on the first day of the season but felt unlucky not to get a result after dominating parts of the game. They certainly have goals in the side with the likes of John Sutton and Tom Hateley they can certainly cause a very shaky Celtic defence some problems.
CELTIC
Celtic go to Fir Park on Sunday on the back of a humiliating 4-0 defeat in Utrecht in the Europa League after being 2-0 up from the first leg. It was a complete disaster as Celtic barely mounted a viable attack on goal and one of the worst Celtic performances in a long time. The up side if there is one is that they can concentrate on the SPL and winning their title back from old firm rivals Rangers and rebuilding the side.
Its been a good start to the SPL for Neil Lennon's side with 2 wins and no goals conceded. They started poorly against Inverness before winning 1-0 after finishing strongly and an excellent goal from the talented Pat McCourt. They then won with ease by a 4-0 scoreline over St Mirren and some excellent goals too. Celtic will always score goals in the SPL even though at the moment they are struggling to find their best partnership but their shaky defence makes this game likely to be high scoring.
VERDICT
OVER 2.5 GOALS IS A GOOD BET FOR ME HERE.
