Palermo welcome Cagliari to the Stadio Barbera in a derby between Sicily and Sardinia. The home side is looking to do well after a successful midweek in the Europa League.

Palermo have been busy in the transfer market as well. The departures of Simon Kjaer and Edinson Cavani have been covered by the signings of Ezequiel Munoz, Mauricio Pinilla and Massimo Maccarone.

Defender Federico Balzaretti has urged his team mates not to repeat last season's mistakes and start off slowly.

For Cagliari, they have appointed Pierpaolo Bisoli and he has listed up Federico Marchetti so he will not play at all. Meanwhile, Robert Acquafresca and Alex Pinardi are recent additions and should strenghten the side.

Maccarone instead should be playing up front ahead of Pinilla. Abel Hernandez looks likely to be his striking partner.

Cagliari will start with Michael Agazzi in goal while Daniele Ragatzu is also out after he is suspended following a friendly match scuffle against Bastia. Alessandro Agostini is also definitely out for this one while Daniele Conti is lacking match fitness.

Lorenzo Ariaudo will get the nod to start at left back even though he is more suited to a central position. Alessandro Matri could start alone upfront while Bisoli could leave Acquafresca on the bench and opt for a 4-3-2-1 formation.
